Year 11 & 12

Our study and mentor programs use OptimalWork.com to help the boys work at their best, at will. Incredibly, the teachings of St Josemaria Escriva align perfectly with the ‘neuroscience based principles’ of OptimalWork.com

Overview

High School students are able to participate in a wide variety of activities which help them develop leadership qualities, attain academic excellence and strengthen their friendships outside of the school environment. Activities for students in Years 11 and 12 occur weekly.

Activities include gatherings of various types, to learn from a seasoned professional or discuss some important cultural or ethical issues, local outings, study sessions, study weekends, local and interstate service projects, community work, volunteering and spiritual formation.

Regular Activities

Year 11 and 12 students both attend Mirrabooka on a Thursday afternoon. Those who are part of The Ascent Program (for more information click here) attend on Tuesday afternoons. In addition, Year 11 and 12s are welcome to join us on Saturday afternoons for a joint activity with the year 10s.

Our mentoring program aims to help students to formulate concrete goals to help them develop human and supernatural virtues. We are currently using optimalwork.com as the tool to help the boys develop to a point where they can work at their best at will and also the OptimalWork.com weekly inventory as a way of graphing their personal growth.

Retreats

Spiritual retreats are offered several times each year in Bargo Conference Centre (44-46 Hambridge Road Bargo NSW 2574), typically from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. Please see the website for more information.

Mentoring

Our mentoring program aims to help students to formulate concrete goals to help them develop in their spiritual life and their academics through the cultivation of virtues.

Saturday Timetable for Year 10-12s

4:00pm - Sport/Activity

6:15pm - Meditation

6:45pm - Benediction

7:00pm - Dinner

7:30pm - Get-together

8:00pm - Pick Up

We will have Recollection on the third Saturday of each month. This will replace sport/activity.

Recollections are like monthly 'mini-retreat' focused on personal prayer, spiritual reading, and examination of conscience to renew one's relationship with God. These typically include a meditation given by a priest and an opportunity for confession, helping participants apply Christian faith to their daily lives and work.

Camps

In January, we offer the Big Picture Program for Year 11s and the HSC Study Camp for Year 12s. During the year, we organise a number of study camps. These camps usually have limited spots, which will be given to those who are most regular to the centre. We also run special camps during other times of the year. This may include overseas trips such as work camps.

Silent Retreats

We encourage boys to do a silent retreat each year. Please click here for more information.

Re-enrolment for Existing Students

From this year forward, we are requiring all Year 9–12 students—even those who have attended previously—to participate in our onboarding process. We ask students to complete an interview at the beginning of each year to confirm their commitment to attending the study centre. This conversation is essential in empowering them to take ownership of their education and truly make the centre their own space for growth.

The Onboarding Steps

  • Student's Task: The student must complete the Google Form.
  • Personal Interview: We will conduct an interview with the student.
  • Confirmation: Finalise the term fee payment.
  • Continuing Commitment: Near the end of every term, we will check in with both the student and parents to confirm their commitment to continuing with Mirrabooka for the next term.
