Year 9 & 10
Our study and mentor programs use OptimalWork.com to help the boys work at their best, at will. Incredibly, the teachings of St Josemaria Escriva align perfectly with the ‘neuroscience based principles’ of OptimalWork.com
Year 9 and 10
High School students are able to participate in a wide variety of activities which help them develop leadership qualities, attain academic excellence and strengthen their friendships outside of the school environment. Activities for students in Years 9 and 10 occur weekly.
Activities include social gatherings with guests from different industries, universities, hobbyists and more. They also have local outings, study sessions, study weekends, local and overseas service projects, community service and spiritual formation.
Regular Activities
Boys in Year 9 and 10 can attend Mirrabooka once a week on a weekday. This year, Year 9 and 10 students both attend Mirrabooka on a Monday afternoon. In addition, Year 10s are welcome to join us on Saturday afternoons. On this day, they do one hour of study using the OptimalWork.com approach, to help the boys study at their best, at will. There is guided prayer in the chapel, a talk usually on one of the virtues, and a sports session, be it volleyball, football, basketball etc..
During the study time, students are taken individually for mentoring with a counsellor. Our mentoring program aims to help students to formulate concrete goals to help them develop human and supernatural virtues. We currently use the inventory from OptimalWork.com as the basis of our mentoring sessions.
Retreats
Spiritual retreats are offered several times each year in Bargo Conference Centre (44-46 Hambridge Road Bargo NSW 2574), typically from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. Please see the website for more information.

Mentoring
Our one-on-one mentoring program aims to help students to formulate concrete goals to help them develop in their spiritual life and their academics through the cultivation of virtues. Through this, we aim to help young men apply Christian faith to their daily lives and work.
Saturday Timetable for Year 10-12s
4:00pm - Sport/Activity
6:15pm - Meditation
6:45pm - Benediction
7:00pm - Dinner
7:30pm - Get-together
8:00pm - Pick Up
We will have Recollection on the third Saturday of each month. This will replace sport/activity.
Recollections are like monthly 'mini-retreat' focused on personal prayer, spiritual reading, and examination of conscience to renew one's relationship with God. These typically include a meditation given by a priest and an opportunity for confession, helping participants apply Christian faith to their daily lives and work.
Camps
We usually run the Year 9 and 10 Summer Program in January. We also run special camps during other times of the year. This may include overseas trips such as work camps.
Silent Retreats
We encourage boys to do a silent retreat each year. Please click here for more information.

Re-enrolment for Existing Students
From this year forward, we are requiring all Year 9–12 students—even those who have attended previously—to participate in our onboarding process. We ask students to complete an interview at the beginning of each year to confirm their commitment to attending the study centre. This conversation is essential in empowering them to take ownership of their education and truly make the centre their own space for growth.
The Onboarding Steps
- Student's Task: The student must complete the Google Form.
- Personal Interview: We will conduct an interview with the student.
- Confirmation: Finalise the term fee payment.
- Continuing Commitment: Near the end of every term, we will check in with both the student and parents to confirm their commitment to continuing with Mirrabooka for the next term.
